We held our August Club Championship yesterday.
First of all, a big thank you to José and Jean in the Golf Shop for all their help and support. To Bruno and Miguel, thank you for presenting the course in such fantastic condition. We all appreciate the hard work that goes on behind the scenes to make the course so enjoyable to play.
And, of course, a huge thank you to Vanessa, Gloria and all the restaurant staff for your professional and friendly service, as always.
I would also like to thank all the players who stayed with us for the presentation, particularly those who did not win a prize today. It is wonderful to see members celebrating with their fellow golfers, applauding the winners and recognising their achievements. That is exactly what a club should be about: enjoying the game together and supporting one another.
A special thank you to our Captain, Susy, for being there on the day and for taking the time to present the prizes. Her participation and presence, even as a non-playing golfer, are very much appreciated.
It is a little disappointing that one or two players chose to leave early. We literally started the presentation just 15 minutes after the last card was handed in, so there really wasn’t a long wait. The prize-giving is an important part of our competitions, and I hope that in future everyone will make the effort to stay and share the occasion with their fellow members.

The championship
For the record. NTPs: Nick Brooks, Paul Tobin (2), Stuart Bulling, Clive Jenkins and Bob Smith. The Blue tee winner was Fred Beel 37.

The gross was won by John O’Brien with 33. Second overall Julie Howarth 40 and the winner, with the fantastic score of 43, the birthday boy himself Denis McCormack.
We also had the pleasure of remembering and celebrating Denis’s birthday, with everyone joining in for a rousing rendition of “Happy Birthday”. A lovely moment and a great way to celebrate together as a club.
Sadly, we then had to bid a fond farewell to two of our members, Nick and Terry, who played their final round with us as club members. They are now off to begin an exciting new chapter in their lives in Thailand.
We wish them both a very happy future, many wonderful experiences and, of course, plenty of good golf. Bon voyage, Nick and Terry, and the very best of luck for this next stage of your lives. You will both be greatly missed!
